Melbourne Diamond Lab – Lifetime Manufacturing Warranty

Our Promise

At Melbourne Diamond Lab, we understand how special your ring is.
That’s why every piece comes with a Lifetime Manufacturing Warranty from the date of purchase, covering all manufacturing defects on gold and platinum rings.

Each ring is meticulously crafted by expert jewellers and inspected to ensure the highest standard of quality.
If your ring ever shows a structural or craftsmanship fault, we will repair or replace it at no cost.
We’ll also cover postage for any approved warranty claims within Australia.

What “Lifetime” Means

“Lifetime” refers to the lifetime of the original purchaser and the normal expected lifespan of the ring under standard wear conditions.
This warranty is not transferable to subsequent owners.

What’s Considered a Manufacturing Defect

A manufacturing defect refers to a structural or craftsmanship fault, not normal wear or accidental damage.
Examples include:

  • Porosity or visible blemishes in the metal

  • Uneven or loose settings identified at pickup or servicing

  • Rhodium plating stains or marks noted at pickup

Every ring undergoes strict quality control to ensure lasting beauty and integrity — but your peace of mind remains our top priority.

Australian Consumer Law

Our products come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under Australian Consumer Law (ACL).

Depending on the nature of the issue:

  • Minor problems will be repaired at no cost within a reasonable time.

  • Major problems may entitle you to a refund, replacement, or compensation where applicable.

For more information about your consumer rights, visit the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.

Warranty Coverage

Engagement, Wedding & Fashion Rings:
Lifetime coverage for structural or manufacturing defects in gold or platinum.

Lab-Grown Diamonds & Sapphires:
Lifetime coverage for the characteristics confirmed at purchase (not accidental damage).

Repairs outside of warranty will be individually assessed and quoted.

What’s Not Covered

Our Lifetime Manufacturing Warranty does not cover:

  • Normal wear and tear (scratches, dents, bent prongs, or worn bands)

  • Accidental damage, mishandling, loss, or theft

  • Gemstone chipping, cracking, or breakage from impact

  • Damage caused by exposure to chemicals, cleaning agents, or swimming pools

  • Rings altered or resized by another jeweller

Any alterations — including resizing, repairs, or modifications — performed by a third party will void this warranty.

All warranty claims are subject to inspection and approval by Melbourne Diamond Lab before any repair or replacement is made.
This warranty is valid only with proof of purchase and applies exclusively to jewellery that has not been modified after delivery.

How to Make a Warranty Claim

  1. Contact us through our Contact Page and include your order details and photos of the issue.

  2. We’ll advise the best way to return your ring for assessment — either by post or via your preferred courier.

  3. A $50 AUD return-postage deposit (within Australia) is required, refundable if the issue is deemed a manufacturing defect.

  4. Once received, your ring will undergo a free professional assessment:

    • If the issue qualifies under warranty, it will be repaired or replaced at no cost, and your postage deposit refunded.

    • If not covered, you’ll receive a repair quote before any work is carried out.

For international customers: you will be responsible for return shipping unless the issue is confirmed to be a manufacturing defect.

Jewellery Care

To help your ring last a lifetime:

  • Remove it during physical activity, cleaning, or when using chemicals.

  • Store it separately in a soft pouch or ring box to avoid scratches.

  • Schedule a professional cleaning and setting check annually.

💍 Your ring should be the last thing you put on before heading out — and the first thing you take off when you’re home.
